. . . however it is defined, but it’s also an illusion!
Incredible amounts of focused energy are invested as we pursue success. Many competent and dedicated people try, yet it eludes the majority.
It’s an illusion simply because it exists only in the minds of others, each for different reasons, and possibly in the mind of those seeking it. Agreement on whether, or not, it exists is always open to interpretation and question.
It’s not a destination but rather a ‘marker on the horizon’, an objective to be achieved. This is surely valuable for we are born to strive. Striving allows us to remain optimistic and eventually, to be happy.
So how could it be secured?
Recognizing what it really is, is a great place to start our quest. Firstly, we need to seek it for ourselves, and perhaps for others – and this means we should be curious – meaning, having a strong desire to learn and grow, being receptive to new ideas and having a genuine interest in alternate realities. Failing curiosity, we’d be either apathetic or fixated.
Next, we’ll need courage. The insights we gain from curiosity can only benefit us if we act on them, and we don’t always welcome the disruption of change. It takes courage to choose, to commit and to pursue the unknown, for the risks are great and outcomes are rarely guaranteed.
Finally, we need collaboration, that is constructive cooperation with others, mutual gains, and sustainable connections, since we can’t accomplish much alone. Success is very frequently to be found when we share our efforts with others thereby combining and expanding our awareness and perspectives.
It’s a small price to pay, the investment of curiosity, courage, and collaboration. It is also available to us all, at all times and in the majority of circumstances. There’s always a positive return on our investment – often small but generally incremental, and well worth the risk.
How are your curiosity, courage, and collaboration? Go here to find out! If they’re healthy, your eventual success is guaranteed.
