Wanting MORE . . .

Assuming that the crucial question is ‘WHY?’ let’s consider how it can serve us in the pursuit of MORE, whatever that might be. After all, we’re all different, aren’t we?

Actually, no! we’re similar, perhaps even identical, as ‘life beings’. Our physical selves reflect the natural world, of which we’re part for a brief period anyway. However, we’re governed by the same laws and conditions as all other life forms.

In Nature, there’re patterns – cycles and evolutions – that we can’t escape for they determine our physical existence. Beyond this, the eight-ninths of the iceberg that lie beneath our material senses but yet support us fully, we have a spiritual existence which we share more completely. We know it as Love, in its many expressions. We need love!

We’re usually very conscious of our NEEDS in life. They’re fundamental, especially when contrasted with our ‘wants’ which may well be ladders to nowhere, created by others for their benefit. Our needs are a hierarchy, according to Maslow, where those needs relating to survival and safety (concerns of our Limbic mind) override all other interests whenever provoked.

Every other life form has Needs too. They’re entrenched and the general pattern is clear. Physically we live and we die as individuals but life itself goes on – cycles and evolution. We can acknowledge this truth, harmonizing our awareness, or we can ignore it; we cannot change it. Evolution, Nature in its physical form, shows us the way. This is Wisdom.

Surely, it makes sense to live in harmony with whatever we can’t change. The evolution of Creation, regardless of its origins, is inescapable to our physical substance and probably to our spiritual awareness too. The only decision we can make is whether we are passengers or crew!

As passengers we go along for the ride, paying our dues and enjoying the benefits as best we can. As crew, we serve others, making contributions, sharing our awareness and energies to their benefit. This becomes our purpose, duty, and role.

My thought is that those who have purpose, that is meaning as well as pleasure in their life, will be richer than those who do not.

We need to make a deliberate choice, to select a PURPOSE for our life, passenger, or crew. This helps us to answer the WHY?

Why are you living?
