Love - the Interface ...

What this world needs now is love, sweet love . . .

Very few would contest this statement. Love is, after all the great attractive force that offers everyone a better, brighter future. It’s also something we give and take freely without ever really understanding or changing it in any way. Surely, it is what it is!

Our only option, it seems, is to engage with it, or not – that choice is ours. If we want more out our life, it’s one sure way to achieve this. It costs us little and there is, potentially, an inexhaustible supply we can access if we choose

I want more, even though I have more than I deserve right now, but I’m not sure how I would ever know that love is an appreciating commodity in my life. My challenge is that it’s a simple word, but with infinite depth and meaning. How can I wrap my mind around it?

I know there’s EROS in the form of erotic, pleasure-centered experiences which I’ve expanded to include romantic expressions from time to time. This is passion, emotionally based and usually intensely focused. It moves me.

I’ve also encountered PHILIA, expressed as compassionate attitudes and behaviors, usually directed to selected, differentiated affiliations which serve to define me. Over time, I’ve enlarged it to embrace more openness, awareness, inclusion, and tolerance. This guides me.

Finally, there’s AGAPE which is transcendent love that frees me from my self-imposed restraints, allowing me to evolve as a complete human being in fuller harmony with Creation’s tendency towards perfection. It reflects the wisdom of the world as I know it. It fulfills me.

Where am I on this scale? In many situations, I’m directed by my feelings and emotions – subject to EROS. In other cases, I can detect the influence of defined and discriminating affiliations – PHILIA – in which I strive to expand, improve, and evolve. In my heart I yearn for a higher expression and awareness – AGAPE – which I recognize stands between me and fulfillment.

The pathway is conscious awareness. In my life journey I’ll seek Insights, find the Inspiration to act on them, and then Integrate them into my perspectives.

This way I could grow, find peace-of-mind and fulfillment. The choice is mine.
